Hey there!
I saw my first brown rabbit this morning, and the clocks roll forward this weekend - spring is on the way!
I'm more than ready for warm weather outside, green grass underfoot, and kids burning off their energy somewhere other than my living room.
Until then, I'm dreaming of mountain air, quiet campgrounds, and the small town vibes we hunt down every summer.
In today's newsletter you'll find:
- A deep dive into one of my favourite mountain destinations (you'll never guess where!)
- Events happening across the province this weekend
- Free summer bowling is back!
- An easy lunch idea that might just win the daily "feed them" battle

Events Around Alberta (This Weekend)
There's always a lot happening around Alberta. Here are a few highlights from this coming weekend:
π― Find more through your local event calendar!
If you've got a Cineplex theatre in your area, check out the Family Favourites - only $3.99pp (+booking fee) for a Saturday morning movie!
π Find of the Week
Back again for another summer, Kids Bowl Free has opened up enrolment!
We love it as a way to get out of the house and let the kids burn off a bit of energy. Their cousins have also signed up, so it's a great chance to hang out.
βRead a bit more about it on the blog or sign up now!β
β Featured: Crowsnest Pass
If you love mountain towns without all the tourists, you need to visit Crowsnest Pass.
Made up of five historic mining towns stitched together along the highway, this corner of the Rockies is packed with history, incredible scenery, and outdoor adventures without crowds.
Iβve put together a brand new guide covering:
- The best things to do with kids
- Historic sites you shouldnβt miss
- Great local stops for food (including some dog-friendly patios)
- Easy outdoor adventures the whole family can handle
And if you want to make the trip extra memorable, check out Charmed Resort, where you can stay in a fairy tale themed cottage!
π At Home Activity
I first saw these little guys while doomscrolling, and knew I had to make them.
We have SO many balloons with dozens of half-finished bags bought for birthdays over the years (why do I change the colour every year??).
Supplies:
- Balloon(s)
- Letter sized paper
- Scissors
- Tape
- Marker (optional)
Cut your paper lengthwise into four 3/4" strips.
Tape the ends together on a 90 degree angle, and begin folding them over each other.
Cut out two circles/ovals to act as feet.
Tape everything together. (Make sure the balloon knot is between the feet.)
Optional: Draw eyes or a full face on your balloon.
Throw them around and watch as they land on their feet! (Maybe I should have drawn a cat face.)
π What I'm Reading
Have you ever had an author that you'll read everything they write, whether it's something you'd usually pick up or not?
I'm that way with βMarissa Meyerβ. I've been reading her writing since we were both teens (yes, we shared a fandom), and being grown adults with families of our own hasn't changed that.
Her books are targeted more at my 12 year old than me, but you're not taking my signed copy of Cinder for anything!
I'm currently re-reading Cursed while I wait for my hold on The House Saphir to come up.
Which author do you obsess over?
π¨βπ³ Recipe to Try
I've been serving the kids "stuff on a plate" since they were toddlers. I love this take on the idea.
It's extra epic if you have a kid who hates their food touching!

π Alberta Fact of the Week
Have you ever heard the legend of the Lost Lemon Mine? Legend says it's filled with gold, but anyone trying to find it will be cursed.
